Lady in Red

This straight forward reclining nude was paired down to essentials and painted quickly to retain freshness and transparency - priorities for a watercolour. This model has natural dark to jet black hair but she needed to go red for a particular work project. I thought it suited her and enjoyed painting her wiith this style. It was an opportunity to splash cadmium red around. Alas, as hinted at here, it had to be allowed to grow out as apparently it was expensive to maintain. Cadmium red is quite expensive too.
